A posh little chocolate shop. Tucked in a back alley. Gothic Quarter-Barca.

Just got back in town from kicking around in Barcelona with my brother. It was really nice to get away for a bit.

jill taylor, neuroanatomist. at 37, a woman who had spent her professional career studying the human brain, suffered a stroke. dang. she recounts the experience and offers her insight into the human experience. totally has nothing to do with photography....directly, but i think it's well worth a watch. and if you're not already spending too much time at ted.com, you should be.

i love my car.  i mean, i really love my car.  i just hate my car.  i mean, i  really hate my car.  i wish i didn't have to drive a vehicle and it made practical sense to ride my bicycle everywhere but that just isn't the case.  it's a nearly twenty year old volvo 240 wagon.  it's as beautiful as it is ugly and been more pain than it's worth.  i'm stubborn and am dead set on driving it until teleportation technology is refined enough for everyday human travel or i stash away enough cash to buy a newer old volvo.  either/or.  but until then i'm sure i'll have more weeks like this last one.  troubleshootingtroubleshootingfixed.  thanks for your help david, as well as lending me that old guy strength i have yet to aquire. lolomgjkjk, what?

knitKNIT

i've taken up knitting...as well as photographing the process and textiles used.  i'm really enjoying both.  i never thought i would be a knitter, but my brain really loves the repetition.

christmas

i was fortunate enough to spend this christmas with my folks AND my brother.  it was the first time in way too long that the four of us were together christmas morning.  they moved out by mt. rainier in 2005 and this christmas was the whitest they've had in the new houes.  i miss my brother, and it was really nice to hang out with him and my folks for the week.

mark rothko with clouds

I just got home from Christmas with my family out in Seattle.  I have a bunch of images to go through and will get around to posting once I get myself settled.  I looked out the window during the flight home and thought of Rothko's paintings, strong lines and compartmentalized color.  I think I was somewhere over Utah.
